| Die in Brüssel ansässige Föderation der europäischen Parkettindustrie, FEP, schätzt auf Grundlage erster Informationen ihrer Mitglieder, dass das in Europa verkaufte Parkettvolumen in 2006 um weitere 4 bis 5% zugenommen hat. Somit hält der seit Jahren bestehende Aufwärtstrend weiter an. Wood-based panels producers optimistic for the markets but concerned about continuing cost increases |

| During the recent EPF General Assembly, held on 24 November 2005 in Brussels, the overall sentiment among the European wood-based panels manufacturers was rather positive for the future. While production costs continue to rise, demand failed to provide a decisive impetus during the first 3 quarters of this year. Following the record year 2004 with outstanding production growth and improved demand levels, in particular the particleboard manufacturers experienced a difficult start in 2005. The markets picked up moderately after the summer holidays and further improvements are expected towards the end of the year and beyond. mehr... |

| On 28 June-1July 2005, the European Panel Federation (EPF) and the European Federation of the Plywood Industry (FEIC) organised their General Assembly in Riga, Latvia on the kind invitation of the companies JSC “Bolderaja” and Latvijas Finieris. For the second time, the federations shared a joint programme, providing the participants a unique occasion to meet the key players in the wood-based panels industries, as well as suppliers and technical institutes. | At the occasion of the Interzum fair in Cologne on 29 April 2005, Germany, EPF and FEIC presented their most recent statistics during a joint press conference. Both federations were pleased to announce several new record levels in production as well as in consumption of wood-based panels. Despite some restraining factors such as the unfavourable exchange rate of the US dollar against the euro, rising production costs due to increased resin and energy prices, besides higher transportation costs in line with the soaring oil prices, the wood-based panels industries wrote an exceptionally positive chapter during 2004.
